The 1980’s was the time period that break dancing and "slam dancing” which is essentially mosh pits.
The Robot
The Robot is one of the easiest dances to do and with practice just about anyone can get pretty good at it. The dance is self-explanatory---the dancer simply moves their arms, legs and torso in a jerking motion as a robot would. The key is to make small motions instead of big sweeping ones.
The Worm
This is also known as the Centipede. This step is a popular move for most break dancers to perform. The move begins with the dancer lying on his stomach with his elbows bent and hands flat on the floor. After going through the movements you begin the moves again so your body is going through a rippling movement. If you think you look like a worm, or as much like one as you can, you've got the dance down.
You can also start the moves from your feet and then lift your upper body off the floor, so the rippling movement is reversed.
The Moonwalk
Michael Jackson made this move popular during the 1980s, and it looks quite simple, but actually it takes a lot of practice to master.
This dance move has made several comebacks since it was first made popular. Several present day dancers/singers use this move while on-stage.
Walk Like an Egyptian
In 1986 the band The Bangles made a world famous song that turned into the next dance craze. This was the beginning of Walk Like an Egyptian which was famous for years and was still being seen in later decades.
The Running Man
The Running Man is sort of like the Moonwalk but it gets your whole body involved.
This dance was a street/ fad dance that started in late 1986.
The Running Man regained focus in 2007 with Britney Spears did it onstage during her tour and Scarlett Johansson stated in an interview with Seventeen that, "I do a great Running Man."
